Character Approvals

All new characters need to meet the new guidelines.


This page is intended to assist players create characters quickly. Full Details can be found in Laws of the Wild and will not be posted here. There is no intention to infringe copyright - if you have any objections to the information here, get in touch and it will be removed immediately.

Please note! You get 35xp total, not 35xp as part of basic creation and then another 35! Just to clear up recent confusions.

Remember: Max Points you can gain from Neg Traits/Flaws is 12 (5 neg traits, 7 flaws) - if more are taken they gain you no extra points. Derangements (except for Silver Fangs / Metis) count as 3 point flaws, and are included in this.

Garou Creation - As below + 35 xp

Step One: Inspiration - Who are you?
Choose a concept
Choose a Nature and a Demeanour from Laws of the Wild: Revised
Choose a Breed and Auspice
Choose a Tribe

Step Two: Attributes - What are your basic capabilities?
Prioritize Attributes (seven primary, five secondary, and three tertiary)
Choose Traits

Step Three: Advantages - What do you know?
Choose five Abilities
Choose three Basic Gifts (one each from breed, auspice and tribe)
Choose five Backgrounds
Note beginning Renown (by Auspice)

Step Four: Last Touches - Fill in the details
Assign Rage (determined by auspice – ragabash 1, theurge 2, philodox 3, galliard 4, ahroun 5)
Assign Gnosis (determined by breed – homid 1, metis 3, lupus 5)
Assign Willpower (determined by tribe, 3 unless Bone Gnawer, Child of Gaia or Black Fury (4) or Stargazer (5))
Choose Negative Traits and Flaws (if any) For each negative trait you get 1 point to spend on an trait; for flaws you get their value in xp to spend preferably on merits. Max 5 neg traits and 7 flaws. Further flaws gain you no xp. No 5-7 point flaws please.
Choose Merits (if any) – max 7 points worth, no 5-7 point merits.

Step Five: Spark of Life - Narrative descriptions
Spend your XP and assign 5 Lores

For all PCs: we are no longer accepting:

  • Theurges
  • Ananasi, Bastet, Nuwisha, Rokea, and Nagah
  • Psychics
  • Pure Breed 3-5 (except PB3 for Silver Fangs)
  • Resources 3-5
  • PCs starting over Fostern/equivalent in rank
    • And even then, appropriate background is required
  • Starting abilities at 5 without approval and good reason
  • Intermediate gifts/rites/powers without approval and good reason
  • Characters that are primarily healers
  • Characters with Huge Size

Partly this is for game balance (we have a lot of high purebreed characters in a non-traditional sept, and we have too many rich people for the local economy to make sense) but partly it is also to give you somewhere to go with your characters.

Where an approval is needed, this means appropriate background, character summary and reasonings for the how and why you have it.

Spend your XP and assign 5 Lores

I will accept kinfolk with *one* supernatural affinity. This means you can have a kinfolk with *one* path of magic OR gnosis but not both.

I do not accept full-blown mages. It has to come from Laws of the Hunt, Laws of the Wild or a Garou sourcebook, as these are the materials I have access to and time to research. If you want such a PC, adding what the powers do to the Notes section of your character sheet is very much appreciated - it lets me, in combat, or a scene, or plotting just look quickly at your sheet to see what you can do. It lets you do the same :)

It is exceedingly uncommon for a Psychic or Sorcerer to exhibit both phenomena and, say, True Faith, as the belief of power from within and divine power from without can clash. Likewise, the degree of intensity of purpose and dedication to the development of the mind generally distracts the psychic from undertaking additional occult study to explore sorcery as an option, also blocking off both Gnosis and Glamor as a source of power
